This month our Scripture plan is all about delighting in God’s Word! 2 Timothy 3:16-17 is one of the passages of Scripture that are included in our Bible Verses to memorize this month. We learn in 2 Timothy that, All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17, KJV) In God’s Word, He teaches us His commands, He convicts us of our sins, He corrects our ways and through this process God trains us to become more like Jesus Christ our Savior, for His glory and our good. In the verse prior we read, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:15, KJV) God’s Word is able to make us wise for salvation in Jesus! In God’s Word, we learn of His character and Who He is. As we learn about the Lord our God we also learn about ourselves. We learn the commands and instruction of the Lord our God and, as we learn these truths, we also learn about our hearts, realizing that we are imperfect and we do not keep God’s commands. Once God has made us wise to these truths, we are then able to confess our sinful ways and look to God to correct our ways and to become more like Jesus Christ our Savior. If you are visiting the blog here today and have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, then I encourage and implore you to do so! You can learn more about how to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior by visiting this page here on the blog: How to Receive Salvation | Good News Indeed.

Our other memory Verse comes from James. James 1:22 says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” (James 1:22, KJV) We are not only to read God’s Word but we are also to do what God's Word instructs us to do.

We are going to spend a lot of time studying Psalm 119 this month. Let us turn to a few of the Verses from Psalm 119. In Psalm 119:33 we read, “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” (Psalm 119:133, KJV) In Psalm 119:133 we read, “Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.” (Psalm 119:33-35, KJV) Also, let us turn to Psalm 1:1-3 which says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:1-3, KJV)

With these passages of Scripture in mind let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You God for giving us Your Word and a desire to spend time in it! We pray that You will enable us to understand Your Word and to not only listen to Your Word but to also faithfully do what Your Word instructs us to do. We pray that You will please continue to teach us Your ways, convict us of our sins and correct our ways so that we may glorify You more. Please, God, make our paths straight for Your Names sake. We pray that each of us will always be living sacrifices that are pleasing to You alone God, the Lord our God. We know that we fall short and that it is You alone, God, Who we sin against. Thank you that you have given us our Savior Jesus, through Whom we can be eternally forgiven for all of our sins. Please forgive us of our sins, God, and direct our steps according to your Word. Please, Father, keep us from willful sins, may they never rule over us! We desire to glorify You, Lord, and we desire to grow to maturity in Christ Jesus our Savior, for Your glory and our good. We praise You, God, that You are perfectly faithful and that You are always working in all things for Your glory and the good of Your children. Thank you, God, that You are our good, good Heavenly Father Who alone meets our every need in Jesus Christ our Savior! We pray, God, that as we spend time in Your Word, we will continue to meditate upon it day and night. You, Father, are our joy and our delight! It satisfies our souls to serve You, Father! We praise You, God, for Your perfect love for us and Your perfect care of us. Please send us forward, God, sincerely rejoicing in You and praising You out of sincere hearts as we meditate upon You, Your Word and Your goodness.

In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

Enjoy your time in God’s Word this month and always! Praise be unto the Lord our God!
