Our Scripture plan this month is titled Prayers of Repentance. As we complete our Scripture plan this month, you will notice that the daily plan looks a little different. We will spend a lot of time studying Psalm 51 and Psalm 32 in this month's plan. As we study Psalm 51, we will be reading the entire Psalm every day and then writing specific Verses from this Psalm each day. We will be doing the same thing as we study Psalm 32. This method of reading the entire Psalm every day and writing each verse down will help us to memorize these Verses and, God willing, the entire Psalm itself. This will also encourage us to meditate upon the Word throughout the day because we know it by heart. All time spent in the Word of God is precious and beneficial. Remember our memory Verses last month, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, which tells us that all Scripture is of God and is useful for teaching us doctrine, convicting us of our sins, correcting our ways, training us in Christ for God’s glory and our good.
This month our Scripture plan is all about repentance. We can be encouraged by this plan to pray these Scriptures as we repent of our sins. We will be celebrating Easter this month so a Scripture plan about repentance was the chosen topic. Let us consider the following truths as we prepare our hearts for Easter. We are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and only in Christ are we eternally forgiven for all our sins (Acts 4:12). In Christ alone, through faith in Him, we receive eternal life and through Him we are reconciled to God. (John 3:16) All of us who are saved in Christ can joyfully reflect on the time in which we were led, by God, to the Gospel of our salvation in Jesus. Let us think of this time when we learned of the Gospel. God shared with us the Gospel of salvation in Jesus. The Gospel teaches us about God, our sinful selves and our need for Jesus. (Romans 1:16) God gave us understanding. Through the Gospel, God convicted us of our sins. We realized that we were guilty of sinning against God, understanding that we do not keep His commands. (James 2:10) Through the Gospel, God taught us of our need for Jesus to save us from our sins and that salvation can only be received by putting our faith in Jesus. God then blessed us with faith to believe in Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. (Ephesians 2:8-9) God led us to repentance of our sinful ways, and by the power of God, we put our faith and trust in Jesus to save us. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9) In Christ, God saved us from eternal condemnation and eternity in Hell separated from God. (Romans 6:23, Isaiah 59:2) Jesus Christ our Savior set us free from all sin and death! Romans 6:14 says, " For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace." (Romans 6:14, KJV) When Jesus sets us free we are free indeed! (John 8:36)
If you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, then I implore you on Christ’s behalf to do so now! (2 Corinthians 5:20) Do not spend another moment separated from God. (Isaiah 59:2) You do not know when your last moment here on earth will come. Psalm 144:3-4 says, " Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him! Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away." (Psalm 144:3-4, KJV) God has brought you here and He is sharing the Gospel with you. Now you must respond. To turn away is to reject God and His free gift of eternal salvation in Jesus. Today is the day and now is the time to put your faith in Jesus! (2 Corinthians 6:2) Please read the Verses below to learn how to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. We all sin.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
(Romans 3:23, KJV)
Our sin separates us from God.
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
(Isaiah 59:2, KJV)
Our sin leads to death.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Romans 6:23, KJV)
Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us from our sins and all who believe in Him receive eternal life in Him.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(John 3:16, KJV)
Salvation is only found in Jesus.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
(Acts 4:12)
If we come to understand and admit that we are sinners and that we need Jesus to save us and if we believe in our hearts that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and that He rose to life again, then we can invite Jesus into our hearts and our lives as our personal Lord and Savior.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(Romans 10:9, KJV)
If you have come to understand and admit that you are a sinner and that you need Jesus to save you and if you believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross to save you from your sins and that He rose to life again, then you can invite Jesus into your heart and your life as your personal Lord and Savior. You can pray a prayer like this:
Dear Heavenly Father,
I know that I am a sinner and that I need Jesus to save me. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save me from my sins and that He rose to life again. God I am sorry for my sin. I invite Jesus into my heart and my life as my personal Lord and Savior. I commit my life to you.
In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
As we celebrate Easter, we are celebrating the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross when He died for our sins and that He rose to life again on the third day so that anyone who believes in Him will be saved in His Name. (John 3:16, Romans 10:9) Thanks be to God who delivers us from sin and death in our Savior, Jesus! We read in Romans: “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” (Romans 7:24-25, KJV) As we have read in the Verses from our Scripture plan this month, we are sinful from the moment we are conceived, and our sins are always before us. (Psalm 51:3,5) Let us confidently, in Jesus, go to God and confess our sinful ways to receive His continual mercy and grace! “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16, KJV)
Let’s consider, now, praying the Scriptures below:
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24, KJV)
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. (Psalm 51:3, KJV)
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10, KJV)
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. (Psalm 51:17, KJV)
I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. (Psalm 32:5, KJV)
Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. (Psalm 19:12-14, KJV)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1-2, KJV)
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6, KJV)
Let’s pray.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving us this time to spend in Your Word. Thank You for giving us Your Word and a desire to spend time in it and learn from You. We come to You humbly admitting that we are sinful and needing to repent. It hurts our hearts that we have sinned against You, God. We pray that You will please search our hearts God, test us, and know our thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in us. Please forgive us, God, and lead us in the way everlasting for Your Name’s sake. (Psalm 139:23-24) We know that it is you alone, God, Whom we sin against. (Psalm 51:4) We know our transgressions, God, and our sin is always before us. (Psalm 51:3) We acknowledge our sins to you, God, and we will not hide our iniquities from You. We confess our sins to You, and we praise You that You forgive the guilt of our sins in Jesus. (Psalm 32:5) Create in us pure hearts, God, and renew right spirits within us for Your glory and our good. (Psalm 51:10) Our sacrifices, God, are broken spirits. We know that You, God, will not despise a broken and contrite heart. (Psalm 51:17) Who can discern all of their own errors? Forgive us for our hidden secrets and faults. Please keep us from willful sins; may they never rule over us. We know that none of our sins are hidden from You. We pray that these words and these meditations of our hearts will be pleasing to You, God. For You alone are our strength and our Redeemer. (Psalm 19:12-14) We pray that each of us will be a sincere, living sacrifice who is holy and acceptable to You, God. Please keep us from conforming to the ways of this world. Let us instead be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we can test and approve what Your will is. Your will is good, acceptable, and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2) We pray that we will always, sincerely, trust in You alone, God, with all our hearts, and that we will never lean on our own understanding. We pray that we will always submit to You in every way, always acknowledging You. Thank you God that You direct our paths for Your Name's sake. (Proverbs 3:5-6) We pray that we will always be sorrowful over our sins, for we know that godly sorrow leads to repentance. We pray that we will never take any of our blessings for granted, because to take any one of them for granted would be to take you for granted and we never want to do this, Lord. All of our blessings come from You alone, God, and we praise You for each one! We pray that You will continue to convict us of our sins and that You will, please, correct our ways, for your glory and our good. You alone, God, deserve all glory, honor and praise! Thank you for our Savior Jesus and for Your perfect love for us! We love you, God, and we pray to love You more. Please send us forth, today, rejoicing in You out of sincere hearts. We pray that our joy in You will be apparent to all! Praise be unto You alone, God, the Lord our God!
In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
Enjoy spending time in God’s Word and be encouraged by this Verse in Hebrews which says: “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14, KJV)
Happy Ester everyone! Praise the Lord, Jesus is risen!
